Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a process that restores brightness to dark or yellowed teeth. It uses bleaching agents to eliminate stains and make teeth look cleaner and brighter without damaging the tooth enamel.

This procedure is popular for those with discoloration caused by the accumulation of food stains, beverages (such as tea, coffee, and wine), smoking habits, or natural age-related changes. There are two main types of teeth whitening: professional whitening at a dental clinic and at-home whitening.

In-Office Teeth Whitening (Professional Whitening)

Teeth whitening performed at a dental clinic is a method that delivers fast and highly effective results.

  • Procedure: Dentists use a whitening agent with a higher concentration than what is used for at-home kits. Before applying the agent, the dentist protects the surrounding gum tissue with a special material to reduce irritation.

  • Technology: The process often involves the use of Laser or LED light to activate the whitening agent for better performance.

  • Duration & Results: It takes only 45–60 minutes, and patients can see results immediately after the procedure is finished. This makes clinic whitening a convenient option with satisfying, instant results.

At-Home Teeth Whitening

At-home teeth whitening is a convenient method that you can do in your free time.

  • Procedure: The dentist will prepare custom-fitted trays that fit your teeth perfectly, along with a whitening agent at a concentration safe for home use.

  • Duration & Results: You take the kit home and use it according to the dentist’s instructions. This method may take several days or weeks to show clear results, but it is excellent for those who want to maintain their tooth color continuously.

Advantages and disadvantages of teeth whitening. Teeth whitening can boost confidence in smiling and talking, and it also makes teeth look noticeably cleaner and brighter. However, teeth whitening may cause temporary tooth sensitivity, which is a common reaction. If tooth sensitivity is severe, temporarily stop using the whitening product and consult your dentist for advice on proper care. Additionally, teeth whitening may not be suitable for those with gum problems or cavities. Therefore, it is important to consult your dentist before starting any treatment. Limitations of teeth whitening. • Teeth crowns or veneers cannot be whitened. • Teeth whitening will only be effective on natural teeth.   At iConic Dental Clinic , we offer both in-clinic and at-home teeth whitening services.
